DALEK WEEK 2013 FEATURES AND WINNERS!!!

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay in getting this posted, there was a minor miscommunication plus school starting blah blah blah excuses (but this is sooner than last year, so yay, relativity is everything!)

Congratulations ladies and gentlemen for your remarkable achievement! Seven pieces of art in seven days is no walk in the park, no sir.

Since this journal is so overdue you've probably all forgotten what the submissions looked like. Let's have another gander in this ultra gorgeous ~*~**Feature Section**~*~
(Disclaimer: I tried to feature everyone at least once but there were a lot of submissions to keep track of and I'm only a human.)

They're back in the hotel room not five minutes when Alek groans.  "God's wounds, I forgot to take pictures."
"I did."  Deryn tosses him her phone and collapses onto the bed.  Touristing is hard.
She kicks off her shoes – ah, that's better – while Alek scrolls through her photos.
"Deryn."
"Mm?"
"These are all pictures of food."
"Aye," she says, sighing happily.  "I'm in love with apfelstrudel."
He tosses the phone back.  "I should have expected this."
"The coffee's not bad here, either."
"And the natives," he says, sitting beside her, "are rather brilliant."
"Aye," she says again, and kisses him.

Jaspert spits out his drink when the Skype video window opens. "What -?"
"My thoughts precisely," Alek says, dry.  
"Sod off, both of you," Deryn says.  She adjusts her red wig, grinning madly.  "You can't go to a barking convention without dressing up."
"Mm," Jaspert says.  Takes a drink.  To Alek, he says, "Don't listen to her excuses, lad.  She's always been pure dead daft about the Doctor."
"So I gathered."  But the look Alek gives her is fond.
"Which number are you?" Jaspert asks.
Alek touches his fez.  Sighs.  "Eleven."
"Geronimo, then," Jaspert says, and salutes them through the screen.

DAY 7 - HAPPY DAYS

Dalek Week 2013 Day 7: Happy DaysLife, though complicated, and sometimes nearly lethal, was good, Deryn reflected.
The war had been over for years now, peace had settled and seemed to be staying, and the Zoological Society was just as calm.
And, of course, her relationship with Alek was as steady as a basalt rock formation...not a single tremor or fight or anything.
For the first time, in a long time, Deryn actually felt HAPPY.
Not exhilarated, like she had aboard the Leviathan...or full of adrenaline, like during her fights and the tight spots she and Alek inevitably ended up falling into during their missions, but, actually, happy.
It reminded her of the days before her Da had died...playing with Jaspert and him and going up in the balloon...
A feeling she hadn't felt in years.
She was sure Alek felt the same way. He hid it, of course, under his Clanker emotional plating, but she could see it there, peaking through the slats and around the bolts.
But...despite this...she felt like there was something missing. Someth

Beautiful. Just beautiful.
For anyone wondering how the "judging" went down, I was looking for a number of things!
1. creative interpretation of theme
2. relevance to overall theme of Alek and Deryn's relationship
3. artistic talent/skill/effort
So to those less experienced or doubtful artists out there, you CAN make a significant contribution to later Dalek Weeks even without years of practice under your belt, just by using your noodle and giving it your all! And don't nobody let the whole "week" concept intimidate you; standalone drawings and other artistic pieces are welcome as well!
