[EDIT June 25]

Scott Westerfeld himself has been kind enough to mention Dalek Week on the westerblog and said he can't wait to feature some of the week's winners in one of his posts!
If anyone is coming here from the blog and is unfamiliar with deviantArt but would like to participate, signing up to the site is easy and becoming a member of the group is even easier :D If you need any help feel free to leave a comment and one of the founders would be happy to direct you.

That being said, there are only two weeks until Day 1 of Dalek Week! If you haven't even started thinking about what you'd like to draw/write/etc, now would be a good time to start! If you're starting to sketch out some rough drafts or scrawl out some dialogue by now, even better. Best of luck to everyone! :dummy:

:bulletyellow: Dalek Week 2012 Themes: :bulletyellow:

DAY 1: Parents

DAY 2: Roaring 20s

DAY 3: Blindfold

DAY 4: Summer Afternoons

DAY 5: WW II (world war 2)

DAY 6: Obsession

DAY 7: Generations

:bulletgreen: Bonus! : Potatoes

We got some really cool suggestions this year! Hopefully you guys like these themes. Keep in mind that the prompts are completely up for your own interpretation. For example you can interpret the first theme "Parents" as Alek and Deryn being parents or even better, Alek and Deryn's parents. (; This contest is all about originality and creativity so do whatever you think is best!

To get everyone excited, we will be allowing early submissions for the bonus theme "Potatoes". So go ahead and start your potatoes entries started! And remember to put your submissions in the correct "Dalek Week" folder.

Also I was wondering, to enter our pieces, do we have to click "Submit to group" or submit it on the site, then click "submit to group"? I'm a little confused, and I didn't participate last year ;__;

So, being a newb as I am, could I submit writing to this if it weren't too lengthy?

Like, as in, something that ISN't a visual piece?

Thanks! Since I believe I can then submit some of each, I will now draw a little, type a little, and eventually eat or sleep a little. Maybe :)

Best of luck to you, too. You are entering, right? I saw your stuff from last year, all the stuff you've done, for that matter, and it's really awesome. I've been looking forward to Dalek week because it means more deviations from you...

Thanks! And of course I'm entering! I can't officially compete since I'm helping to run the event, but I wouldn't miss out on all the drawing :D Aw really? I'm so flattered! Hopefully I don't disappoint! :)

Ooh, helping run the event? Sounds exciting and important :) And I doubt you will disappoint. And even if you do, I can just pull up Gender Bending Squirrel or Leviathan Comic Superdump and it will all be better :) (They still make me laugh, even after about 50 times reading them.)
I have to ask, though, do you do your comics freehand or on a computer, or a little of both? I'm totally in awe of how simple, complex, and easy you make them look.
